Heraclitus is right again.
Greek philosopher, and know-it-all, decides that change is ever-present and all-encompassing.

"Nothing endures but change."

My departure from Kirkland left behind good friends, roommates, bosses, and scenery. While my leave was considerably difficult, the memories will sustain. Regardless, this change in relationships, location, and pretty much my entire life has caused an unbelievable amount of anxiety.

Life is a torrent of changes. We change from children to adults. The seasons change (except in Seattle). We change our socks every once in a while. Why is it then, that these torrents of change create such great fear that often debilitates our ability to act?

Alas! I don't know. But, because of my inability to escape the grasps that life's fluctuations have on me, I guess it's about time to start dealing with it. For this reason, I have decided to start my change-accepting journey.

Here are some tips I came across:

1. Draw forth your personal vision. Recognizing values, goals, and future plans allows for growth.
2. Change limiting beliefs. We often refrain from doing things not because of out inability to do so. Rather, we believe that we are unable to do so.
3. Identify Cause-Effect Relationships.

Hopefully this provides some insight for you as it has for me.

And so it begins . . .

Hello to friends and family.

With the advice of some good friends (to the right), I have decided to start a blog.

Why?
I have recently been accepted to an internship program with the American Studies Program in Washington, D.C. In mid-January, I will be flying into the city of "scams, schemes, and scandals" for this amazing opportunity. And, hopefully you'll be able to experience it with me through my thoughts, photos, and unfortunately for you - cheesy poems.

I hope that you will continue to take the time to read updates about life - my life in particular.
Check back Mondays for updates.

Tania.
